Generally, we like to think of self-driving technology as something that is reserved for only the latest models from the big automotive manufacturers that will be hitting the showroom floors in the years to come. But what about the over one billion cars that are already on the road?
In an effort to bring these older vehicles up to speed, a group of former Apple engineers – operating under the newly-formed Pearl Automation banner – are working toward a full-fledged series of transformative products. The first inclusion in this line to hit the market (with a planned release for September) is a rear-facing camera that will serve as one of the key pieces of the self-driving conversion process.
